The Most Expensive Car Audio System In The World ($259k)

The Most Expensive Car Audio System In The World ($259k)

- Images: Critical Mass and Car Audio & Electronics Magazine

Critical Mass’ $259,000 CES5.1 Electrostatic Surround Sound System achieves an amazing feat by fitting electrostatic speakers that are usually very large into a small package for car audio use. All four seats in the vehicle get their own individual speakers (12 electrostatic speakers total) for their very own independent “Sound Stage” with left, right, and center channels. Two of the Critical Mass UL12 subwoofers are utilized for the low-end.

The electrostatic speakers are 24k gold plated and measure 2″ high by 3″ wide. Each system is custom designed for the specific vehicle and install time takes about 2-3 months total with an additional 3 months of tuning if needed. There will only be 10 of these systems ever made and installed. We aren’t sure what number they are on, but you can still add one to your shopping cart on the site if you want. I wonder if they accept Paypal?

Archos 5 Internet Tablet

Archos 5 Internet Tablet

The tablet runs a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 screen, and can pump out 720p video (including WMV and H.264) over HDMI. Because it’s Archos’ own special sauce, the device also supports protected WMV and protected WMA (hooray PlaysForSure), a rarity for Linux.

You can purchase it for $389.99 in here.

Vacheron Constantin

Vacheron Constantin

It’s price is surprisingly: $1.5 million!
Keeping time seems so simple until you run up against something like the Tour de l’Ile from Vacheron Constantin. After seven years in development and three years of assembly, the Swiss watchmaker marked its 250th anniversary this year with the world’s busiest timepiece–at least for now. The Tour de l’Ile has 834 separate parts and 16 complications, including tourbillon, power reserve, striking-mechanism torque, moon phase, perpetual calendar, sunrise time, leap-year indicator, sunset time, sky chart and others. At $1.5 million, it’s the priciest timepiece in Vacheron Constantine’s anniversary line.
